CBC Farewells Caritas PNG Director

CBC, Gordons: The Caritas PNG director was farewelled in an emotional gathering at the Catholic Bishops Conference on Thursday, 20th February 2019.
Mr. Raymond Ton, the Caritas PNG director for eight years was farewelled by the staff of Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (CBC PNG-SI).
“It was a pleasure working with Caritas PNG and the Catholic Church in helping the poor and the needy,” said Mr. Ton as he gave his farewell speech.
He shared that his experience with Caritas PNG was challenging but has shaped and taught him to take on challenges in the next chapter of his life.
Present to farewell Mr. Ton was CBC’s lawyer and the President of Catholic Professional Society, Paul Harricknen.
“Caritas PNG was going through difficult times when Raymond stepped in and helped to raise it to the level Caritas PNG is today. He has helped those in need as director and I wish him all the best in his work in the future,” said Mr. Harricknen.
Also present to farewell him was Bp Rolando Santos of the Diocese of Alotau, together with Fr. Adam Samsel, Director for Liturgical Catechetical Institute (LCI), Fr. Giorgio Lincini, PIME, CBC General Secretary and the staff of CBC.
On behalf of the bishops, Bp. Rolando expressed his appreciation for the work Mr Ton has done in the country.
“You have done so much for Caritas PNG. Thank you for taking on the challenge to help the people,” Bp. Rolando said.
Caritas PNG is a commission of CBC and was founded in 1974 as the National Committee for Development and today, the agency is the Justice, Peace, Development and Relief agency of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
