Tenaru, Guadalcanal – The Holy Name of Mary Seminary in Tenaru, East Guadalcanal, officially commenced its 2025 academic year with a solemn Holy Mass on February 3, 2025. His Grace, Archbishop Christopher Cardone OP, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, marking the beginning of another year of formation for seminarians.

Assisting the Archbishop were Seminarian Lecturers/priests and Archdiocesan Vicar Rev. Fr. Peter Chele, along with School Rector Fr. Thomas Christiawan CM, Fr. James Ere’ai, Fr. Mancent Kavaliliu, Fr. Lawrence Samani, Fr. Paulus CM, and Fr. Yohanes CM.
This year, the seminary welcomes 33 seminarians and 10 students undertaking the Spiritual Year program.
Archbishop Cardone highlighted the significance of the Jubilee Year, describing it as a time of grace, peace, and hope for the Church and the faithful.
The opening Mass set a reverent tone for the year ahead, as the seminary continues its mission of forming future priests to serve the Catholic Church in the Solomon Islands and beyond.
