K4.9 Million for Silanga Health Centre

Kimbe, WNB Province: Silanga Parish in the Diocese of Kimbe sees a boost in health facilities. A level three health Centre is under construction in the mission area of Silanga Parish.

The project is approximately K5 million and it’s an initiative of the member for Talase and Governor for West New Britain Hon. Francis Galia Maneke.

The project was funded through Provincial Services Improvements Projects (PSIP) and District Service Improvements Projects (DSIP).

AEAC, a Chinese Contractor based is Port Moresby is constructing the facility and would be supervised by West New Britain Provincial Health Authority and Catholic Health Services through signing of the MoA late last month between the WNBPHA and Catholic Health Secretary Sr. Tecklah Nohowan.

The project was designed by New Dimension. According to Project Supervisor Mr Nonoi, the project is expected to be completed by December 2021 or January 2022. Mr. Nonoi further said that the duration of the project depends entirely on the input of labour, resources and of course the changing weather patterns may also contribute to the project completion schedule.

Silanga Parish Priest, Fr Anthony Ranga who was away for pastor duties returned to the parish on Saturday and was pleased with the construction phase. Fr. Tonny commended the project supervisor for a job well done so far and appealed to the community to be supportive in this project as it is a life serving service brought to our doorsteps.

Majority of the workforce are from the surrounding communities while less the six skilled labour are from the construction company.
