Port Moresby: The deanery of Mingende and Diocese of Kundiawa in Simbu Province, is in hype as it prepares for the General Assembly of the Catholic Church of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

The announcement was made on Monday 21st March 2022, by Fr Victor Roche SVD, Secretary for New Evangelisation, in a press conference at the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNG&SI, in Waigani.
Scheduled to be held in the Mingende Parish Hall from 21 - 26 April, the assembly will serve as an occasion to celebrate the Catholic Faith; a proposition of a 5 year-Conference Pastoral Plan; and to share the experiences of journeying together in Synodality.
Forming part of the General Assembly’s Organizing Committee are: Bishop of Kundiawa, Paul Sundu, Chairman; Bishop Deputy for Conference Pastoral Plan and Bishop of Bougainville, Dariusz Kaluza MSF; Fr Ryszard Wajda SVD, Vice Chairman; Sr Maryanne Kolkia RSM, Secretary; Community Representative, Anton Goiye; Jimmy Son, Event Coordinator; Fr Christopher Onguglo, Event Coordinator; and Fr Ambrose Pereira sdb, Communication Coordinator.
The occasion is expected to have present Sir John Cardinal Ribat MSC, Archbishop of Port Moresby; Bishops, Priests, Religious, Lay Leaders, and selected participants from each diocese of PNG&SI.
A welcome program for the participants and speeches will be held on Thursday 21st April at 3pm, in front of the Mingende Parish Church.
Sessions for participants will be presented from 22 - 25 April, with a Final Mass to be celebrated on Monday 25th April at 4pm, before the departure of participants on Tuesday 26th April.
