In his homily, Bishop Walenty opened with a thought-provoking question: "Are you tempted?" He emphasized that while temptation itself is not a sin and it is how one is attracted to temptation can lead to sin. He reminded the congregation of God's enduring love and encouraged everyone to journey with hope during the Lenten season.

"As Pope Francis has stated, only God can help us overcome our temptations", he said.

Bishop Valentine explained that God allows temptations to reveal the depth of our love and commitment to Him. He noted that every vocation is a gift, and the beginning of the academic year represents a new opportunity for growth in all aspects of life.

"This Lent calls us to repent and transform our spiritual lives. As we embark on this journey, we are invited to seek wisdom in knowing God, for with him, we can overcome all temptations".

"As we commence the academic year, it is vital to remember that we are not alone; God is with us. We will face temptations and hardships, but with God's support, we can overcome any challenges that may arise during our studies. The teachings of Jesus provide us with guidance on how to navigate these temptations".

After the Mass, attendees enjoyed light refreshments outside, where welcoming speeches were delivered by various representatives, including UOG Catholic Students Association President Jerome Kambula, Sr. Grace Nakan FSM, a student representative, the UOG SRC representative and lecturers Mrs Kuben and Dr Debrietos. All speakers shared heartfelt words of welcome to the first-year students and newcomers of both institutions.

The day concluded on a positive note, with everyone extending well wishes for the academic year ahead, invoking God's guidance.
