This historic event is significant as it marks the first ordinations in the diocese since Bishop Siby Mathew Peedikayil’s installation.

Fr. Peterson, a diocesan priest, takes his orders directly from Bishop Siby, while Fr. Peter and Deacon Michael, answer to the provincial superior of the Order of the Friars Minor. Despite their different vocations, all three men have demonstrated deep commitment, perseverance, and faith throughout their journeys to priesthood, overcoming personal challenges and sacrifices along the way.

Fr. Peterson's ordination was particularly emotional and joyful, with the ceremony filled with tears of happiness from the congregation. It was seen as a testament to God’s grace and the men’s unwavering faith. Bishop Siby in his homily, urged the newly ordained priests and deacon to remain rooted in prayer, holiness, and integrity as they serve God’s people and lead them closer to Christ.

The ordination was a hopeful and inspiring moment for the Diocese of Aitape, reflecting a new chapter in its spiritual life. Bishop Siby reminded the priests that their vocation is a call to self-giving and sacrifice, urging them to be “life givers" and to follow Christ’s example of love and service.
