Port Moresby – The St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Boroko, Port Moresby, was filled as hundreds of Catholic School educators gathered to celebrate the annual Archdiocese of Port Moresby Catholic Agency Schools Commissioning Mass on January 24, 2025.

Cardinal John Ribat MSC, Archbishop of Port Moresby, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, which was concelebrated by six other priests. The Cardinal congratulated the Catholic schools - St. Charles Secondary School, Marianville Secondary School, St. Joseph’s International Catholic College, and La Salle Secondary School - for achieving top results in the 2024 Grade 10 and Grade 12 national examinations. He expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and support in guiding their students to success.
Archbishop Ribat emphasized that just as Jesus chose His twelve disciples to carry out His mission, teachers are also called to continue Christ’s work on earth. He remarked, “Teaching, helping students, and touching their hearts will inspire them to move forward with great hope, enabling them to contribute positively to society, the Church, the nation, and their families.”
The choir from St. Joseph’s International Catholic College created a prayerful and uplifting atmosphere throughout the Mass, while other schools led the processions.
The celebration concluded with group photos and a shared lunch, marking the start of another year of faith-filled commitment to education.
