Youths in Lorengau attend Mini Youth Rally

Papitalai, Manus: Youths from Papitalai Parish hosted a mini rally within its Local Catholic Christian Community (LCCC) from July 4-7.

Joining them were 43 participants (21 boys, 9 girls and 13 adults) from the Charismatic group and youths from St Raphael Rambutso Island in collaboration who organised an outreach for all youths within the parish.

Activities of the first day included the visitation to St John local church Mokoreng where they had an open air outreach praise and worship, along with dramas, creative dances, bible sharing and preaching to strengthen faith.

The youths visited St Thomas local church Salamei Block on the second day. Despite the heavy rains and the long walking distance, the youths with the help of the locals made it to the church compound with their generator for lighting, the PA system and the musical instruments for the evening session. The youths returned to Papitalai later in the night after a lively praise and worship.

The last day of the program ended at St John the Evangelist Momote Compound with a closing mass that had Dean of Manus Fr. Clement Taulam as the main celebrant to commemorate the Feast of St Maria Goretti , the patroness Saint of the Youths.

In his homily, he encouraged everyone to look at the life of Maria Goretti and share their passion for love to everyone.

Following the mass were friendly soccer games and creative dances to wind down the program.

The Youth Rally is a Diocesanal Biannual event for all the youths to come together to celebrate their Catholic Faith, however, this year’s youth rally has been postponed till next year, thus, Papitalai Parish came up with a small program for their youths.
